I love vietnamese food. Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of oil, and reliance on fresh herbs and vegetables. With the balance between herbs and meats and a selective use of spices to reach a fine taste, Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisines worldwide. I appreciated this type of cuisine more when I took a trip with my family to Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam.
Ho Chi Min City, formerly named Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. We took a boat along the Mekong river to visit a local village that has rice paper and coconut candy workshops.
We had honey tea and we were also offered some snake wines which we all refused.
We then moved to a local workshop for rice papers and coconut candies.
We also got to ride the smaller boats.
We went back to the boat again for a short ride to the Xeo May riverside restaurant. We also enjoyed listening to folk vietnamese music.
Overall, I was glad we made the trip to Vietnam. In fact, we’ve been planning to visit Hanoi in the near future.
