Afternoon Tea at the Marco Polo Lounge Taipei

One of the reasons why I love Taiwan is because of the popularity of afternoon teas. Taiwan has hundreds of tea rooms and hotels that offer this centuries old tradition.
My brother-in-law made me choose three among the 10 restaurants I wanted to try because we were there for only a few days. It wasn’t easy but I picked one tea salon and two themed restaurants.

I chose the Marco Polo Lounge located on the 38th floor of Shangrila’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. The moment you walk in, the expansive glass windowpanes immediately grab your attention as you take in a breathtaking panoramic view of Taipei 101 and the surrounding city.

After 6pm, the Lounge offers a choice 101 kinds of martinis at NT$340 each.

Here’s my Afternoon Tea experience:

The lounge was already packed when we arrived. We were not able to make reservations so all the tables by the window were already occupied.

The set, priced at NT$880 for two persons, includes a sampling of mini-sandwiches, scones and pastries with coffee or tea. Since there were three of us, we ordered two sets and an extra coffee.
