Tucked away and hidden in the heart of Tagaytay, this secret garden called Lily Pond is more known by its former name Moon Garden.
Lily Pond is not a hotel nor a bed & breakfast place. It is also definitely not a restaurant. It is simply a place where you can rent vacation cottages. So please do not wonder why they do not have people waiting on you.
When we arrived, there was a flight of stairs. There was no one to greet us so I had to call them to make sure we were in the right place since there was no signage. As we go up, nestled within the gardens are these charming stone cottages. On the level part of the plateau, you’ll see two ponds which have a gazebo in the middle of each.
There’s a large open porch with a roof that has a living and dining area. But upon request, the gazebos on the pond can also be used for meals.
The caretaker/staff that I had called on the phone was waiting for us. We paid her in full and she just handed us the keys and pointed at the cottage we’ll have for the night. Our cottage had a huge bathroom with no doors and can be accessed on either side of the bed. The best time to go is when it’s cold as they have no air conditioning.
We prearranged our free breakfast and requested to have it served at one of the gazebos.
The place is perfect for people who want to unwind, relax and soul search. It is a place where you can read a book, listen to music and paint or just do nothing. You’ll feel like you have the place to yourself since you’re left to your own devices. You won’t see any staff around which is a plus for me.
